It is grown because of its fruits, which resemble those of the cherry, but are much more sour to taste. Everything in these trees turns out to be incredibly useful and healthy. There are about 300 varieties of sour cherries. They also differ in taste, aroma, succulence and sweetness. Sour cherries contain much less calories than sweet varieties of cherries because of their lower sugar content. They are rich in vitamin C, carbohydrates and water. Sour cherries also contain traces of fiber, protein, vitamin A, niacin, calcium, riboflavin, phosphorus, potassium, iron and vitamins B1 and B2.
